” The Eight  Wonders Of The World ”  The more than 2000 year old rice terraces of Banaue.
A mystery and a unique view in the world are the hanging coffins on the mountain walls
in Sagada.

DAY.1 Early in the morning we leave Angeles City (or the end point of a previous travel module). We drive through the rice fields and the hill- and mountain landscapes of the provinces of Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya and Ifugao. In the afternoon we arrive in Banaue. We visit the viewpoint and look over the more than 2000 year old rice terraces. We stay over night in Banaue.

DAY. 2 We visit the rice terraces. These rice terraces are known as “The Stairway To Heaven” and is considered as one of  the eight wonder of the world. The more than 2000 years old rice terraces are placed on the world heritage list of Unesco. You have the opportunity to see and buy the handmade souvenirs which are made by the mountain tribes.

DAY. 3 The next day we visit to an Ifugao village. The Ifugao were once the feared headhunters who built these rice terraces 2000 years ago with the aid of very few tools. After lunch we make a rough two-hour ride through the Cordillera mountains to Bontoc where we stay for overnight.

DAY. 4 We go high in the mountains of Kalinga province. We walk for 30 minutes over a mountain trail and a hanging suspension bridge to a local village. Here the time is stood still.  You can bring some boxes of matches with you. The local population will ask you directly for matches, a present that have real value here. After receiving the small presents, the local population will give you a warm welcome. Here time has stood still.  We see there simple and happy life. In  the afternoon we  make a  visit to the  small but interesting Bontoc museum. This museum was established  by a  Belgian nun.  Here  you can  see the culture and  daily  tools of the Toradja- en Dajak-tribes.  These  tribes  come  originally from  Indonesia and were headhunters for over two genarations.

We drive a rough road to Sagada in which the town lays at a height from 1,480 meters. We visit the Weaving and Souvenirs store. Here you can see how the traditional materials are woven by hand. We visit the caves of Sagada.  Over centuries the dead have been buried here often in sitting position.  We see thousands of open coffins a chilling experience. Of course we do not collect some bones as a respect for the dead people. On other places we see the coffins hanging on the mountain walls. This privilege is only given to some. If the weather allows it, then we make a 20 minutes walk through the caves to the Bokong Waterfalls. We stay for an overnight in Mapiyaaw Sagada Pension. It’s surrounded with a beautiful garden and mysterious rock formations. Over night we stay in Mount Data Hotel.

DAY. 5 We drive the adventurous Van Halsema Mountain Highway passing breathtaking landscape and see some more rice terraces on our way to Baguio. This so-called “highway” which looks like of a mountain path from 130 kilometers long. It is  long but very adventurous drive thats brings us straight trough the beautiful Cordillera-mountains. You will enjoy many breathtaking views.  We stay for an over night in  Baguio.

DAY. 6 The end of this tour is after breakfast.  (If is possible we bring you to Angeles City or Manila).

This tour is ideal as connection to the  Manila - Taalvulkaan Tour or with the Angeles–Pinatubo Vulcano Tour.  It is also very good to connect to Baguio, La Union en Vigan Tour or to the San Fabian - Hundred Islands Tour.
