Under heavy resistance the  American and  Filipino  troops  landed  here on the beach.  Because  of the many casualties and wounded and the blood that was spilt here,  the beach was called "Red Beach'' More than 30,000 americans and 60,.000 japanese soldiers lost their lives here. In memory of the landing of the troops many  heads of states have placed  items of remembrance to commemorate the ultimate sacrifice of so many.

We also have a visit to Hill 522, a 159 meter high hill. There was a heavy  battle to capture this hill. We follow the way and visit  the cathedral of Palo which served as a hospital during the war. We drive to Baybay, visit  the  local  market and take our dinner on the harbor. We stay overnight in the Plaza Hotel.

DAY. 4  We drive along the coast to the harbor town of Ormoc where we take a city tour. We visit the cozy harbor and have our lunch here. In the afternoon we drive back to Tacloban.
